Today in Fernandina Beach the weather started cold but has turned out just beautiful.
We have two American Cruise Line ships as our neighbors today on the dock. One of them is the one we met the other day. They go from Charleston to Jacksonville in the ICW.
Today we had a surprise visit by John Hambrick. John and his wife Pat used to have their boat at Norton's Marina which is where we keep our boat. About 4 years ago John retired and he and Pat took their boat south to the bahamas and the caribbean.
Now John is working on his boat on Amelia Island and hopes to get to the Florida keys this winter. It was great seeing him and hope to catch up with both John and Pat in the Keys soon.
I just want to say that our 34 Mainship has turned out to be the right boat for this trip. Even though we are always the smallest transient boat at the marina we are holding our own. We have been told by more than one person that we have a good looking boat (now maybe they just want to make us feel better because we are the smallest). We can go under most bridges without waiting for them to open. We don't need much water under us to keep going and we can go faster or slower as needed. It has been about 2 months now since we came aboard to start this trip and we have found out that you don't need as much space or stuff that you think you do. At the beginning I thought I would need a bigger boat to do this trip, but now I know that we have the perfect boat.
Pancakes and bacon is what I am cooking tonight.
I think it is a tie with the photos. I like them both, can't decide. Enjoying your blogs and photos. Keep them coming!!! P.S. It is snowing here in Indiana.
