Are we there yet?

All cleaned up after a rough passage.

Huntington Harbor

Another shot of Huntington Harbor

Women and children first?......What about dogs?
Today started out great. We left Westbrook CT around 8:30am and the seas were calm and everthing was going fine. Now we are traveling west in the Long Island Sound heading for Port Washington NY. The wind is from the west at around 10-15knts and the seas around 1 foot. About 2 hours into this bliss the winds went to 20-25knts and seas to 4 ft. Lets just say one of the crew members wanted to abandon ship and it took 2 hands to keep that from happening. The Captain said that the boat and us were just fine. Lets just say it was a tad uncomfortable. We decided to enter the nearest harbor which was Huntington Harbor on Long Island where we are safely tied in a slip at Knutson Yacht Haven and enjoyed a stiff Gin and Tonic. Tomorrow we hope to make it to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty and stay at Liberty Landing Marina in New Jersey.
For all the foodies out there dinner tonight was Hamburger Helper. Yum Yum

  3. Sounds like a bit of a rough start to the trip. Wind and waves. Let's hope things calm down a bit although it still has to be better than going to work. Fair winds and following seas.
